One of the main achievements of last year was Right to Information Act.For the first time public was given the authority to ask questions.In a sense it was leading to transparency.But there are already many instiutions which are asking for exemptions such as CBI,Delhi Metro and most surprisingly Supreme Court.They all are giving varied reasons.CBI is saying that like other intelligence agencies it should not be asked to release the information.Delhi Metro is giving the reason that it would lead to haywire in their deadlines.
Supreme Court application for exemption raises serious question.As its every judgment is
recorded and is made public then why it did not want to adhere this act.They are giving reasons that it will undermine its authority.Public do have the right to know how judges are appointed and what happens when a case is filled against them.Supreme Court is the watchdog of our society so it must not be given exemption from this act
